Chateau Chinon is a huge castle that dominates the entire town of Chinon, and extends along a raised plateau above the river Vienne, in France's Loire Valley.

In 1562 the chateau came briefly into the possession of the Huguenots and was turned into a state prison by Henry IV of France Henry IV of France Henry IV, Henri-Quatre, was King of France from 1589 to 1610 and King of Navarre from 1572 to 1610.
