6. scripture and doctrine ‘the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.’ (2 timothy 2:2) ‘i give you this charge: preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage – with great patience and careful instruction.’ (2 timothy 4:2)

7. wisdom and insight ‘this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight’ (philippians 1:9, cf colossians 1:9) ‘christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.’ (colossians 2:3)

8. knowledge of god’s will ‘we have not stopped praying for you and asking god to fill you with the knowledge of his will’ (colossians 1:9) ‘do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. then you will be able to test and approve what god’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will’ (romans 12:2)
