To enable students write and speak correct English. To enable students learn different parts of speech. To enable them to analyze different words used in a sentence. To enable them to use different parts of speech according to the rule.

Words divided into different kinds or classes according to their use are called parts of speech.

A noun is a word used as the name of a person, place or thing. As:- Akbar was a great king. The rose smells sweet. The sun shines bright.

A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun. As:- Ram is a boy. He is brave. Anjana is absent, because she is ill. I gave you five mangoes yesterday.

An adjective is the word which qualifies a noun or pronoun. As:- He is a brave boy. Mohan is a rich man. She is a good girl. He gave me twenty rupees.

A verb is a word used to say something about some person, place or thing. As:- She wrote a letter. Ram goes to school daily. Seeta sings a song. Colcatta is a big city. Iron and copper are useful metals.

An adverb is a word used to add something to the meaning of a verb, an adjective or another adverb. An adverb shows the time, manner, place, cause, degree or result of and action or happening. As: 1. The earth is always rotating.(Time) 2. He writes carelessly.(Manner) 3. All the birds flew away.(Place) 4. I do my homework carefully.(Manner) 5. Mohan is standing there.(Place)

A preposition shows the relation of one thing to another. As:- The ball is in the basket. The car is near the tree. The house is behind the hospital. The thief jumped over the wall. I wrote a letter to my father.

A conjunction is a word that is used to join two words or two groups of words or two sentences. As:- Henry and james are playing. I cannot drink tea because it is too hot. Take this pencil or that pen. Megha is tall but archana is short.

An interjection is a word which expresses some sudden feeling. As:- Oh! Look at the moon. Alas! My dog is dead. Hurrah! We have won the match. Hello, you are also here!

We put an exclamation mark (!) after an interjection. These days the exclamation mark is sometimes put at the end of the sentence. As:- Hello, you are also here!
