Topic 1 - Login The handset starts by asking you to login and identify yourself as a user. This is identical to the openxpos login and will support anybody registered to use the back office software. Back Next

Topic 3 - Enquiry Stock enquiry lets you scan a barcode or key in a product code, to locate the product. If found it will display the current values for visual confirmation or to answer customer queries. The search button needs to be pressed to ask the gun to read the information from its server database. The clear button will reset all boxes to empty. The show button will display a picture of the product if one is available. You are unable to change values as this can be done on other screen options.

If a picture is available it can be seen by the show button on enquiry. Back Next

Topic 4 – Stock Control Back Next
Stock Control lets you scan a barcode or key in a product code, to locate the product. If found it will display the current values for visual confirmation. The search button needs to be pressed to ask the gun to read the information from its server database. The clear button will reset all boxes to empty. The Update button will store any changes you make in the right-hand side boxes. Note the values entered are adjustments to the stock and not a replacement stock level. The word SAVED is shown to confirm that the update has been completed on server. Back Next

Topic 5 – Stock Adjustments
Stock or Price Adjusted Stock adjustments vary from Stock Control in that they require a reason for carrying out the alterations. The figure entered increases or decreases the stock level . However Price Changes however replace the current price. Back Next

The operator can choose from a selection of pre-determined stock and price adjustment reasons. The reason will stay the same whilst you do the following adjustments. Continue takes you forward once you have selected your reasons. Back Next

Own use lets you scan a barcode or key in a product code, to locate the product. If found it will display the current values for visual confirmation. Select the Department that the goods will be used in .The Update button will store any changes you make in the own use. Note the values entered are increases or deceases to the stock level. The word SAVED is shown to confirm that the update has been completed on the server. Back Next

Topic 6 – Batches Back Next
Server batches Batches consist of a group of lines that have been validated as live on the system. They are scanned and have entered quantities recorded. These batches can be used in a variety of programs, for example, purchase order suggestions, goods inwards and labels to be printed. Back Next

Topic 6 – Batch Processing
Batches are identified by batch numbers. If starting a new batch then press the new batch button and a new number will be allocated. If you want to work on an existing batch then enter the batch number and select search. This will then find and list all the items already scanned in the batch to confirm the correct number has been used. Press amend batch to continue adding products to this batch. Back Next

Batch entry lets you scan a barcode or key enter a product code, to locate the product. If found it will display the current values for visual confirmation. The search button needs to be pressed to ask the gun to read the information from its server database. The clear button will reset all boxes to empty. Enter a sell price if different and stock quantity required and use add button to include in the batch. The batch no and reference are used purely to confirm the current batch you are working with. Once all entries are complete , then press finish. Back Next

Immediate Stock update
Topic 6 - Count – Method1 Stock take audit selected count lines Immediate Stock update Counts are built up of a group of lines that have been validated as live on the system. They are scanned and have count quantities recorded. These Counts can be used in stock taking only and represent different sections of the shop and storage areas. The lines to be counted are preloaded and passed to the handset for counting. Back Next

Topic 6 – Count Processing
Counts are identified by count numbers. If starting a new count then press the new count button and a new number will be allocated. If you want to work on an existing count then enter the count number and select search. This will then find and list all the items already scanned in the count to confirm the correct number has been used. Press amend count to continue adding products to this count. Back Next

On a count you are allowed to add a posting reference, normally the name of the section you are counting. You are also allowed to record an analysis code, this is used to check that items scanned belong to the same section. Having entered these two identifiers press continue to go into recording lines. The count lets you scan a barcode or key enter a product code, to locate the product. If found it will display the current values for visual confirmation or to answer customer queries. If the product is found in more than one location then the quantities entered will be added together showing the total quantity that has been recorded . Back Next

Topic 7 – Q Bust Q _Bust Till Q Busts are built up of a group of lines that have been validated as live on the system. They are scanned and have sale quantities recorded. These Q Busts can be used at the till and help pre serve the customers, or save taking bigger items through the till Back Next

Topic 7 – New Q Bust Back Next
Q Busts are identified by Queue numbers. If starting a queue you will be given the next number and allowed the chance to enter the customer surname for future lookup at the till. Back Next

Topic 7 – Queue Bust entry
Queue entry lets you scan a barcode or key in a product code, to locate the product. If found it will display the current sell values. The search button needs to be pressed to ask the gun to read the information from its server database. The clear button will reset all boxes to empty. The Queue number and reference are shown for information only. Enter the sale quantity in the box and select add. Finish closes off all entry and saves it. Back Next

Topic 8 – Product Not Found
This screen is displayed if a product is scanned and not found on the system. There is an opportunity to record which item was not found and this will be included in counts and batches, but not q-busts. Press ok to return Back Next

Topic 9 – System Set up Back Next
This records the current location of the database for product look up and storage. Update stores your data changes data. Back Next

To allow barcode scanning with OpenXpos the scanner requires programming. This is to help find products on your system. Please progress through the following steps: Open the Symbol SE1223 Scan Engine.pdf document and print pages 9-83, 9-84 and 9-100 Using the Workabout Pro scan the <DATA><SUFFIX 1> barcode, on page 9-84 Scan the SCAN SUFFIX 1 barcode, on page 9-83 Now scan the following barcodes from page in the correct order Scan 1 Scan 0 Scan 3 The scanner is now set-up for use with the OpenXpos program. Handset Network Set-up · Double tap the Wireless Icon on the taskbar. · Select IP Information. · Tap Configure. · Choose (Specify an IP Address) and enter IP Address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway (if required) and DNS & WINS information if required. · Tap Ok. · Now chose Wireless Information and all Networks should be shown. · Tap the known network and tap Connect. · If Network uses Encryption etc then choose Wireless Properties and select encryption level as required. Microsoft Active Sync Back Next
Microsoft Active Sync is used to synchronise the host PC with the Workabout Pro handset. This is done by connecting the Workabout Pro docking station to the host PC using the provided USB data cable. Microsoft Active Sync can be used to Explore the contents of any synchronised handset by choosing the Explore option on the toolbar. Data can be transferred between host PC and handset as well by this feature. Back Next

Workabout Pro Program Load
Loading OpenXpos CE Software Connect Handset to pc with Microsoft Active Sync version or later. Double Click on the install.bat in the workabout folder found at c:\Workabout. This will open a dos window and start copying three files over to the handset. After each file has been copied to the handset a message will be displayed asking for confirmation on the handset . Select ok each time. After installation follow these instructions to create a desktop icon. Create a new shortcut on the handsets desktop by double tapping My Computer. Double tap Program Files\ OpenXpos Ce Hold on OpenXpos ce.exe and choose copy. Navigate to folder Windows\Desktop and hold on screen. Choose Paste Shortcut form the menu. Installation Complete.
