The first year of college is strictly on the UAA Campus. The second year is working full-time at clinical training sites around the state. It is very competitive, only ten students are admitted each application period. Unfortunately, there are no advancement opportunities for this program, you are kind of stuck being a Sonographer, and that’s it. Pay: $64,000 median In anchorage it’s about $58,000

Which would I choose…? I would choose the path of a Radiologic Technologist. There are more advancement opportunities, and I eventually plan to become a Radiologic Assistant. This career choice is something very important to me because both of my grandfathers have passed away from cancer, and being an RA lends me the opportunity to work on chemotherapy along with other things to help people. I will be attending the University of Alaska, Anchorage in the Fall of 2013 for a degree in Radiologic Technology and a double minor in World History and Instrumental Music.
