2. Title Should be informative enough to allow graph to “stand alone” “The effect of …(IV)… on …(DV)…” Good:  “The effect of fertilizer on the height of pea plants” Bad:  “Plant Growth” No periods! This is not a sentence!

3. Axes X-axis Horizontal; “across” the bottom Independent variable  Ex. Year, day, groups  Y-axis Vertical; in the “Y” itself Dependent variable  What is being measured/counted

4. (Axes, cont.)  Consistent intervals Can jump from zero with break, but then must be consistent  Appropriate scale?  Labels with METRIC UNITS!

5. Data Points, Lines, Bars, etc.  Accurate  Neat

6. Legend/Key  Is it needed?  Clearly labeled  Neat

8.  How tall was the 2 g pea plant at 25 days? Interpolating- getting information from a graph from between data points
