Sa Boghe The melodies of the boghe usually do not exceed the range of a fifth, starting from the first degree of a major scale. The first degree is also, in most cases, the tonus finalis of the melodic phrases and the tonal center.

Sa Boghe The boghe sings the lyrics with a relatively natural voice. His melody is characterized in various cases by embellishments like voltas, appoggiatura, narrow vibrato.

SA BOGHE – model, interpretation, improvisation The boghe is the leader of the group: he usually chooses the lyrics to sing, establishes the tonality of the song (puntu) and the typical one-tone modulation (artziadas and abassadas, respectively ‘raising’ and ‘lowering’) within the song. His melodies are based on the local modas (village style). Nevertheless, every good boghe should give its personal interpretation of the traditional melodic model.

You will see that there are common features – for example, the syllabic andamento and the prevalence of descendent profiles – but there are also differences, even in two performances given by the same singer.
