Audit Standard for Fraud SAS No. 99 that issued in 2002 is describe the auditor responsibilities related with the fraud in the company. The auditor should consider the risk that the financial statements are materially misstated due either unintentional error or fraud. Accordingly, the auditor must specifically consider factors that bear on the likelihood of fraud. Bina Nusantara

Steps to follow Asses the risk of material misstatement of the financial statements due to fraud and consider that assessment in designing audit procedures Inquire of management about its understanding of the risk of fraud and its knowledge of fraud perpetrated on or within the organization Plan and perform the audit to achieve reasonable assurance of detecting material misstatement of the financial statements due to fraud Bina Nusantara

Steps to follow (Con’t) Consider whether misstatement detected during the audit are the result of fraud and, if so, evaluate the implications and communicate the matter to appropriate personnel Document the facts that evidence the auditor’s assessment of the risk of fraud and the auditor’s response to the risk identified Bina Nusantara
