2 For you This is me

3 Dear reader, Reflecting back on the more literary side of my life, I can tell you that I had to overcome some obstacles to get to the level of writing that I'm in today. when living back in Sri Lanka until I was ten years old, I knew traces of English here and there, but spoke and wrote primarily in Sinhalese. After my move to the United States, I was thrown right into a place where Sinhalese didn’t exist, and I had to adjust to this new language, and I'm very surprised at how fast I did.wrote primarily in Sinhalese. I was in fourth grade when I first entered school in the United States, and my English writing improved at a fast pace. I learned how to write in cursive, I learned my verbs, nouns, prepositions, and syntax. Soon, I was writing essays and poems. I proudly earned a B in English in my first year at Christopher Farms Elementary School. It only got better from there, and one of the proudest moments I can recall was in ninth grade when we were assigned to write a literary critique of a novel, and mine was chosen to be read out loud in class. literary critique of a novel My writing became stronger and stronger throughout the years, and my writing skills also helped my shape my future, because they helped me craft the essay that got me into the University of Virginia.the essay Of course we dread going to English class and learning that we have a writing assignment, a poem, or a research paper. However, at this point in my life, I understand what an important tool it is for my future. now I feel that with time and plenty of revision, any literary masterpiece can be created.
