Micah 6:6-8 6 “With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? 7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”

Micah 6:6-8 8 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

“Do Justice”… Definition of “doing Justice” -Caring for the vulnerable
Justice is best understood when we place ourselves in the place of the victim.

Isaiah 61:1-3 1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;

Isaiah 61:1-3 3 to grant to those who mourn in Zion— to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified.

Who are the vulnerable The “poor” -piety and poverty
The “brokenhearted” -those mourning and grieving The “captives…prisoners” -those marginalized

What do we proclaim” We “proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor”
(the Year of Jubilee) Our God is a God of Do-Overs!!
