Year Three Term 2 Lesson 1 Blessed are the Poor in Spirit Matthew 5:3 (Good News Bible) "Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor; the Kingdom of heaven belongs to them! Matthew 5:3 (Contemporary English Version) God blesses those people who depend only on him. They belong to the kingdom of heaven! Isaiah 57:15 (CEV) Our holy God lives forever in the highest heavens, and this is what he says: Though I live high above in the holy place, I am here to help those who are humble and depend only on me.

Year Three Term 2 Lesson 1 Humility vs Pride & Personal Dependence Humans say: We don’t need God. We can unite and do great things by ourselves. All the good things I get in life, I deserve, because I worked for them. No thanks to God. Luke 12:16 (CEV) So Jesus told them this story:

Year Three Term 2 Lesson 1 Luke 12:16 – 21 A rich man's farm produced a big crop, and he said to himself, "What can I do? I don't have a place large enough to store everything." Later, he said, "Now I know what I'll do. I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones, where I can store all my grain and other goods. Then I'll say to myself, 'You have stored up enough good things to last for years to come. Live it up! Eat, drink, and enjoy yourself.' " But God said to him, "You fool! Tonight you will die. Then who will get what you have stored up?" "This is what happens to people who store up everything for themselves, but are poor in the sight of God."

Year Three Term 2 Lesson 1 God’s Reward Because those who know they are poor in Spirit, know they need God. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ His Son. When you accept Jesus as the Lord and Saviour of your life, you become part of The Kingdom of Heaven.

Year Three Term 2 Lesson 1 God’s Reward God, himself, will comfort you. God, himself, will comfort you. He sent Jesus to die for you. To take away your sin. So that when you pray for help, when you are in trouble, God will answer you. Isaiah 57:18 – 19 (CEV) I know what you are like! But I will heal you, lead you, and give you comfort, until those who are mourning start singing my praises. No matter where you are, I, the LORD, will heal you and give you peace.

Please have pity on me. You are always merciful! Please wipe away my sins. Wash me clean from all of my sin and guilt. I know about my sins, and I cannot forget my terrible guilt. Then you will experience Joy in its fullest. Knowing you can enjoy life without guilt weighing down on your heart.
