ne…que The equivalent of using seulement (only) Je ne parle que français en France. Je n’ecoute que mon Ipod. Nous ne regardons que les films français.

Word order of ne…que Ne comes before the verb (like usual) Que comes before the word or phrase to which the restriction applies What do these phrases say? -Je ne parle qu’anglais. -Je ne parle anglais qu’en Angleterre. -Je ne parle angalis en Angleterre qu’avec mes amies.

Remember, ne…que is not a negative expression This means that the indefinite and partitive articles do not change after the verb. (If you remember from this from French 1!) J’adore la viande. Je ne mange que des hamburgers.
