What Are Hippies? Hippies are a group of people who wore tie-dye and different colors, drove hippie vans, did not like the government, abused drugs, and ate NO meat. Hippies loved everything and everyone. The hippies were seen as different because of what they believed in, because they were a little bit different.

Clothing Hippie clothing was very bright and colorful. They wore tie-dye a lot. They never wore shoes and if they did it was for a short while. Hippies liked peace signs and head bands.

Culture Hippies were very loving and free. They cared for everything alive. They abused drugs. They were Vegetarians/ Vegans Hippies would pay the parking meters and lay in the parking space

Modern Hippies Modern hippies are known as Neo- Hippies. Most modern hippies are exactly same as the older hippies. Hippies, now aren’t seen as different as before. Hippies, now, are heavily against the government.

Famous Hippies Bob Marley Janis Joplin Cheech and Chong Chong

Bob Marley African American singer/ songwriter. Was seen as an inspirational hero. Greatly respected by the hippie sub- culture. Had long dreadlocks.

Overview/ Summary Hippies were very free, loving people. They had a distinct way of dress. Hippies wore tie-dye and peace signs. They drove Volkswagen vans with a lot of emblems and colors on them. Hippies have shaped a lot of the world since 1965- 1975 and now. They are referred to as Neo-Hippies, now. Hippies will always be around.
