5. Examples of Repetition: I Had No Place To Go By: Zena S It was raining, and I had no place to go My mom said I was just another mouth to feed My dad was too abusive. I went to my grandma, she said she had no more money And the rest thought I was nothing. It was raining and I had place to go I wore the same clothes from Monday While you shopped, at Abercrombie, Delila’s, and what not My system was just as good; it called reuse until its falls It was raining, and I had no place to go I hoped from ditch to ditch, While you all slept in your soft, warm beds, with blankets and all My place was just as good, wet, muddy, and always cold I barely got any sleep, with conditions like that It was raining, and I had no place to go I was lucky if I got anything to eat The closest I got was a half eaten hotdog that I found that in the trash While you were at home eating pancakes, spaghetti, and ice cream, getting your nutrition and protein While I was sitting there getting thinner, sicker, and weaker This poet repeats the line “it was raining and I had no place to go”.
