The Ancient Egyptians were one of the most important civilizations of the past They were famous for tombs, monuments, mummification and pyramids The Ancient Egyptians lived along the banks of the River Nile They were alive around 5000 BC

The farmers grew wheat, barley,vegetables,figs, melons, pomegranates and vines. They also grew flax witch was made into linen.

They hade 3 seasons. Akhet is the flooding season. Peret is the farming season. Shemu is the harvest season.

The Nile gave the people of Egypt a lot of food like fish. If people wanted to travel they used the river Nile. The river Nile 6,000 km and is the longest river in the world. The Nile came from melting ice and snow in Ethiopia.

We know what they wore. Because of the evidence in tombs Rich people wore lots of jewellery like necklaces, ear rings, bracelets and rings. The homes were made of mud, stones and straw. We know this because archaeologists dug them up.

Hieroglyphs were Egyptian writing. Ancient Egyptians wrote on Papyrus reeds which was made into a scroll. To write they used thin sharp reeds. There were more than 700 hieroglyphs in ancient Egyptian.

A mummy is a person who is in bandages because they are dead. The Egyptians thought the heart was the centre of intelligence and emotion. Canopic jars were used by ancient Egyptians to hold mummified remains
