2 The Elder ES Program started on 5/14/07.
Program Overview The Elder ES Program started on 5/14/07. Four licensed clinicians staff the Elder Emergency Services Program and rotate being on-call. The Elder ES Program operates from 4pm-8:30am on weekdays and 24/7 on weekends and holidays.

3 Other calls are anonymous tips from those within the community.
Port of Entry Calls are received from elders, family members, neighbors, hospitals, and first responders. A great number of calls involve concerned neighbors or family members reporting possible abuse or neglect. Other calls are anonymous tips from those within the community.

8 Case Examples Cranston: Female elder age 60
Chemically induced dementia. Call from Daughter concerned about mother’s presentation, wandering at night, verbally aggressive, self neglect and disruptive behavior. In person response and coordination with Cranston PD, Fire and rescue. Admit to ER for medical and mental health interventions.

9 Case Example Continued
Johnston: Elder male abuse by son living in home Taken to ER for broken arm after report of being dragged down the stairs by son Staff ensured police report made despite elder refusing to do so. Elder received medical attention- son arrested later that week.

10 Cases Continued Providence:
Elder female self neglect and mental health concerns. Coordination with 2 Providence Police Housing Authority Officers. Worked with PD and client to accept mental health treatment at local ER after 3 hour intervention. Client certed for mental health assessment after Clinician coordinated with ER regarding client risk and behavioral health issues.
