8 September 30, 2009 NCST Distance Learning Event 8 What Consumers are Saying: Results of the Fourth National Survey Completed September 2008 Surveys consumers registered with AAAs for transportation services Services may be funded all or in part by OAA, state, Medicaid or other funding sources Sample Size: N = 828 (for transportation)

9 September 30, 2009 NCST Distance Learning Event 9 What Consumers are Saying: Fourth National Survey ……..Findings in Brief 47.9% rely on aging network transportation services for nearly all (29.5%), three-fourths (5.2%), or half (13.2%) of their transportation needs. 45.6% of riders describe themselves as “mobility impaired.” (no car, do not drive, do not live within ¾ mile of a fixed route stop)

10 September 30, 2009 NCST Distance Learning Event 10 What Consumers are Saying: Fourth National Survey ……..More Findings 38% of riders indicated their health as “fair” or “poor” 14.7% of riders have three or more ADL impairments (Nursing Home eligible) 46% live at or below census poverty level 72% have income below $20K per year
