2
DNV GL © 2014 From KEMA to DNV GL 2
3
DNV GL © 2014 First Experiences with IEC 61850 Ed2 Contents What has changed in Edition 2? Testing experiences Next steps 3
4
DNV GL © 2014 What has changed in Edition 2? Larger scope from substation to power utility Many more Logical Nodes (LN): power quality, distributed energy resources, hydro power Hierarchy of logical devices -> improved grouping of LNs Extensions reduced to private data objects and private LN Added protection settings 4 Data Model
5
DNV GL © 2014 What has changed in Edition 2? 5 Communication Extended name length to 64/64 Simulated GOOSE <> Real GOOSE GOOSE fixed length encoding Tracking of services LTRK Supervision logical nodes GOOSE subscription = LGOS Sampled values subscription = LSVS Time = LTMS, LTIM Well defined error codes More precise specifications Mod = test, Operate with Test Local / Remote Reporting Control
6
DNV GL © 2014 What has changed in Edition 2? Many new “IED services” settings to improve the exchange between SCL tools Indexing of report control blocks SCL schema = 2007B.Jan 2014 New.IID = Instantiated IED Description New.SED = system engineering rights Setting group editing: FC=SE (in Edition 1 FC=SG) 6 SCL

DNV GL © 2014 Testing Experiences with Edition 2 What are the references for conformance testing? IEC 61850 Edition 2 parts 6, 7-x, 8-1 IEC 61850-10, Dec 2012 “IntOp2” TISSUES UCAIUG Server Ed2 Conformance Testing Procedures, version 1.0, April 2013 UCAIUG approved test procedure changes (TPCL), version 1.0 SCL schema, version 2007B.jan2014 8 www.tissues.iec61850.com iectc57.ucaiug.org/wg10
9
DNV GL © 2014 Testing Experiences with Edition 2 More precise testing possible due to improved specification in the standard Also the negative testing (errors) are well defined in the standard and well testable PIXIT is reduced because more information is available in the SCL More test cases, more testing! – Edition 1 = 239 test procedures – Edition 2 = 330 test procedures The TISSUE process was again a great help to quickly resolve ambiguities 9

DNV GL © 2014 Edition 2 Certification next steps GOOSE performance test procedures for Ed1/Ed2 available, wait for Ed2 device Finalize the conformance test procedures for CLIENT, Q3/Q4 2014 Sampled value publishing testing is waiting for IEC 61869- 9 IS, 2015 Under discussion: conformance and/or interoperability testing of SCL engineering tools More manufacturers will implement Ed2 in more devices We look forward to test more Ed2 devices 12
13
DNV GL © 2014 Conclusions IEC 61850 Edition 2 standard is available and implemented in the first server products We are ready to perform Edition 2 conformance tests Utilities need to – Specify Edition 1 or 2 in the requirements – Check the Edition on the certificate(s) 13
