SSR Read a book of your choosing for ten minutes. How many pages did you read? Multiply the number of pages read by six. This is your new reading rate. Multiply the new rate by two in order to set a new goal for this quarter. Record your new reading rate goal for the 2 nd quarter.

Students will be placed in small groups called acting companies that they will be a part of throughout the Othello unit.

Complete the following on one sheet of paper. Create a name for your group. Copy the following group contract on one sheet of paper: Acting Company Contract The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice By William Shakespeare We, the _________________________________ (name of acting company) pledge to read, analyze, and discuss William Shakespeare’s Othello. Class Period: __________________________ Cast: (List cast members names) Turn your acting company contract into your teacher.

Read pages 161 & 163 out loud in your group. As a group, respond to the Essential Questions on page 164 in SpringBoard. Discuss as a class.

3.3 Guess Who’s in Love In your acting company, discuss the following question: What are the consequences of going outside of a culture’s general expectations when making friends and forming relationships?
