CELTIC SOCIETY Active society that supports Gaelic and attracts many Gaelic-speakers One of the University’s oldest societies Regular Gaelic events like ‘FilmG’ night and a St Andrew’s Celebration Regular traditional music sessions Regularly uses Gaelic to communicate with members Open to all

UNIVERSITY EVENTS Free Concerts- Music of the Gaeltacht, April 2014 Public lectures about Gaelic -related themes or delivered bilingually Examples: March 2014, lecture on Martin January 2014, lecture by Mary Ann Kennedy on the Gaelic Songs from Glasgow

MAY FESTIVAL Gaelic strand of events in the University’s annual Festival held over a weekend in May. Celebrates Gaelic through a variety of events like story-telling, music and film. In 2013 the strand included a special performance by Julie Fowlis.

CAUSEWAY/CABHSAIR Literary Magazine publishing poetry and short stories by new and established writers in all of the languages of Scotland and Ireland, including Gaelic. Published by the University’s Research Institute of Irish and Scottish Studies
