Obedience & Supernatural

Supernatural work of God operates through Faith Obedience & Prayer

Obedience & Supernatural In 2 kings chapter 5, Namaan was healed of Leprosy. 5 Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the L ORD had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy. [a]a 2 Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. 3 She said to her mistress, “If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.” 4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said. 5 “By all means, go,” the king of Aram replied. “I will send a letter to the king of Israel.” So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents [b] of silver, six thousand shekels [c] of gold and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: “With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.”bc

Obedience & Supernatural 7 As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said, “Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!” 8 When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message: “Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.” 9 So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.” 11 But Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the L ORD his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy.

Obedience & Supernatural 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?” So he turned and went off in a rage. 13 Naaman’s servants went to him and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, ‘Wash and be cleansed’!” 14 So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy. 15 Then Naaman and all his attendants went back to the man of God. He stood before him and said, “Now I know that there is no God in all the world except in Israel. So please accept a gift from your servant.”

Obedience & Supernatural When God has to do supernatural in our lives, he demands unconditional obedience. One step forward in obedience is worth years of study about it. In Luke chapter 4:27 Jesus says “And there were many in Israel with leprosy [a] in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed— only Naaman the Syrian.”a

Obedience & Supernatural When God has to do supernatural in our lives, he demands unconditional obedience. One step forward in obedience is worth years of study about it.

Obedience & Supernatural A widow in Zarephath1 Kings 17:10-16. 10 So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, "Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?" 11 As she was going to get it, he called, "And bring me, please, a piece of bread." 12 "As surely as the Lord your God lives," she replied, "I don't have any bread — only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it — and die." 13 Elijah said to her, "Don't be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: 'The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord gives rain on the land.'"

Obedience & Supernatural A widow in Zarephath1 Kings 17:10-16. 15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family. 16 For the jar of flour was not used up and the jug of oil did not run dry, in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.

Obedience & Supernatural  Obedience is doing even when I don’t like doing it  Obedience is sometimes unreasonable, sounds foolish  Obedience is not justified by common sense. When God tells us to obey, against all odds, he knows what is going to happen. He is in our best interest. He is in control.

Obedience & Supernatural What will happen if we disobey? In Hebrews 3 rd & 4 th chapters, Hebrews 3: 7-11, 7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ”

Obedience & Supernatural Even Jesus obeyed Philippians 2:8 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross! Hebrews 4:14-16 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, [a] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.a

Obedience & Supernatural May I put forward the following for your consideration? 1)Can you pray for 2 people in your office that they will experience the super natural power of God this year and be willing to do what God tells you to do? 2)Can you pray for 2 people in your neighbourhood to see the same thing happen in their lives? 3)Can you come out of your comfort zone and do this year some thing that pleases God?
