Elijah said – there would be a drought – 1 Kings 17:1 God fed him and provided him with water The brook dried up and God led him to Zaraphath – a widow was there Flour and Oil did not run dry Son of the widow died – Elijah stretched himself on the boy – 3 times – and cried to God – and God heard and brought him back to life – 1 Kings 17:21, 22

Obadiah hid 100 prophets of God in caves Elijah told Obadiah to tell Ahab to meet him People from all over Israel were to meet him on Mt. Carmel Bring 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of Asherah

Call on your god – called until noon Elijah began to make fun – maybe he is thinking, busy, traveling, or sleeping They cut themselves with swords and spears Time of the evening sacrifice – so ALL day

Took 12 stones – one for each tribe Dug a trench – able to hold about 24 lbs Fill 4 large jars – filled them 3 times Fire from God burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil – also licked up all the water Took the prophets off the mountain into the Kishon Valley and slaughtered them there Elijah went back on top of the mountain to look for the approaching rain 7 times he asked his servant – do you see any hint of rain? 7 th time – I see a small cloud

Heavy rain and ran ahead of Ahab back to Jezreel – 17 miles Ahab told his wife – Jezebel – what had happened to her prophets She said – that she was going to kill Elijah He was scared and ran for his life Went a day’s journey into the wilderness – sat down and rested – angel provided food for him Went another 40 days and nights until he reached Horeb – 2,370 miles – same as Mt. Sinai
