4  What is communication?  What is bad communication?  What is good communication?

5  Phase 1 › Transmission Phase  Sender decides on a message.  Message is translated into symbols (encoded).  Translated through a medium to the receiver.  Phase 2 › Feedback Phase  There is a common understanding between sender and receiver.

9  Selecting the appropriate channel resembles hitting a row of cherries on a Las Vegas slot machine.  The goal should be to align four elements: 1. The objectives of the sender (S). 2. The attributes of the message (M). 3. The attributes of the channel (C). 4. The characteristics of the receivers (R).

16  Product › A flyer? A website? An e-mail? Digital signage?  Placement › When do you begin putting it out? Is it easily accessible? Where will it be seen most?  Price › What is the cost not only in money, but time!  Promotion › Are there visual effects? › Include easily distinguished and popular celebs, cartoon characters, etc. › If there will be food at an event, include a visual of food.

17  Create a new document with page dimensions of 11.25” wide by 20” tall. Design the electronic poster and insert your desired content.  Save the file in the program format or as a.jpg (files saved as.jpg cannot be edited). Please use the following naming scheme for the file name: group or organization name_poster or event title_date to remove. (For example: sub_fallconcert_10-6)  Submit attachment to moseleyads@elon.edu with posting instructions (start date, end date, etc) included in the body of the email. moseleyads@elon.edu  You will receive a confirmation email when digital poster has been uploaded

18  Break up in your 3 groups  Download the PowerPoint template at www.elon.edu/moseleyads www.elon.edu/moseleyads  Create a Digital Sign that the Leadership Development Institute could use to promote its conference. Incorporate all concepts you recently learned.  Send the sign to cjohnson7@elon.educjohnson7@elon.edu
