3 Overview High levels of student satisfaction with quality of instruction All programs are working on student learning outcomes One or more faculty members from each of the programs participated in SLO training in either 2005 or 2006 Programs are identifying expected course and program-level SLOs along with assessment plans

4 Enrollments ABI, Foreign Languages, Psychology/Parent Ed, and Visual Arts account for approximately 20% of the college’s credit FTES Art, Psychology, and Spanish are ranked #4, 5, and 10 respectively among the college’s highest credit FTES-generating disciplines The Military Program does not generate FTES but had Fall 2005 enrollments equivalent to almost 500 FTES Distance learning is driving growth in Psychology, Foreign Languages, and Visual Arts

5 ABI Program Outcomes Documented cognitive improvement and transition success New Pocket PC memory curriculum Implemented speech/language component Goals Create speech/language internship program Develop “psychology of hope” curriculum Student and family at Ice Cream Social

6 Foreign Languages Six languages (Spanish, Vietnamese, French, Italian, Arabic, Chinese) 58% TV ~ 10% Online ~ 32% Classroom Approx. 400 military students per year Staffed entirely by adjuncts Improved retention since prior review

7 Military Contract Ed Program Dramatic growth Doubling each of last four years Equivalent to almost 500 FTES in Fall 2005 High level of student satisfaction Over 750 graduates in 2005-06 Graduates successfully transitioning to four-year schools Strong revenues contributing to college’s overall fiscal health

11 Staffing Needs Foreign Languages Full-time faculty member to replace positions lost over last five years Military Program Support staff consistent with program growth Psychology/Parent Education Permanent aide to replace retirees Visual Arts Full-time faculty to replace retirees and facilitate program growth Gallery director and curator General Seaport training and development support to assist faculty in development of online courses
