1 Do's and Don'ts

2 Fonts - Good Use at least an 18-point font
Use different size fonts for your title and points Make sure your font is easy to read in type, color, and size No more than six lines of font on each slide.

3 Don’t make your words too big.
Fonts - Bad If you use a small font, your audience won’t be able to read what you have written CAPITALIZE ONLY WHEN NECESSARY. IT IS DIFFICULT TO READ Don’t use a font that isn’t easy to Don’t make your words too big.

4 Color - Good Use a color of font that contrasts sharply with the background Ex: blue font on white background Use color to reinforce the logic of your structure Ex: light blue title and dark blue text Use color to emphasize a point But only use this occasionally

5 Color - Bad Using a font color that does not contrast with the background color is hard to read Using color for decoration is distracting and annoying. Using a different color for each point is unnecessary Trying to be creative can also be bad

6 Background - Good Use backgrounds such as this one that are attractive but simple Use the same background consistently throughout your presentation This means the same color scheme. Or the same type of design or theme, etc.

7 Background - Good If your background is blurry, don’t use it.
Don’t use animated backgrounds. Try to stay away from pictures being your background.

8 Background – Bad Avoid backgrounds that are distracting or difficult to read from Always be consistent with the background that you use

9 Graphics-Good Use graphics that are related to your theme.
Don’t put too many graphics on one slide. Don’t put more than one animated graphic on a slide.

10 Graphics-Good Make sure the colors of the graphic work with your background and words. Don’t let a graphic cover up your words. Don’t stretch your graphic so that it’s blurry.
