5 5 20 million tonnes per annum of residual waste still landfilled in UK. 100 APP plants or 2.5GW of baseload (firm) capacity (5% of total demand). Existing capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum (represents further opportunity as old plant comes off line). Over 2 billion tonnes of resources already stored in UK landfill sites representing opportunity for further 200 APP plants Landfill tax and ROC/FIT support for Gasplasma® technology makes the UK a highly attractive market. Globally billions of tonnes of residual waste are sent to landfill annually Competition splits into high capex/high efficiency and low capex/low efficiency solutions. APP offers very high efficiencies for lower capex than comparable solutions. Regulation and rising energy prices moving market towards higher efficiencies. MBI requires large scales to be cost effective. Planning permission for large facilities is typically more difficult. Demonstration plant in Swindon running a gas engine since 2008. Planning permission to build a commercial 50,000 tpa facility in Tyseley, Birmingham - financial close targeted in June 2014. Funding from Energy Technologies Institute of £13m.
