Product Reliability Causes: Shady construction causes product to fall apart or crash in mid- flight. Solutions: Increase QC workers’ pay.

3. Environmental Analysis PCB Manufacturing: Wastes: Air emissions (Acids, Solvent fumes), Effluents (Solvents) and Solid Wastes (Plating, Scrap Board, etc.). Problem: Pearl river in China becomes like the Wabash river. Solution: Filter outgoing air with scrubbers, recycle solid wastes and treat effluents before releasing. Toxic Li-Po Battery: Wastes: Toxic and reactive Lithium compounds inside battery. Problem: Death if you eat it otherwise soil pollution which leads to water pollution. Solution: Offer a “free” recycling program with the cost hidden in the price.

Radio Transmitter: Wastes: Big black plastic case, LCD screen, it’s own PCB. Problem: Toxic compounds used in manufacturing including Lead and Chromium. Solution: Yet another “free” recycling program.

5. End of Product Life Analysis Where does it go? To the landfill or incinerator. What are the environmental impacts? Environmental Pollution from Lead, Chromium and other heavy metals used in the product. Eventually increases soil toxicity and pollutes ground water. Solutions? “Free” recycling programs. Notify user of proper disposal methods with big red stickers on dangerous parts.
