5 Northeast Corridor The Northeast Corridor is the most successful passenger rail corridor in the country Penn Station/Moynihan Station in New York is the busiest station on the NEC Penn Station/Moynihan Station is the origin or destination for 2 of 3 Amtrak passengers using the NEC The Empire Corridor from Albany to New York is the 5 th highest Intercity Travel Market on the NEC NYSDOT Commissioner McDonald chairs the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure and Operations Advisory Commission

6 Enhance Passenger and Freight Rail Operations Divert traffic from less energy efficient modes Improve connectivity among State’s cities and regions Increase Ridership by: Improving On Time Performance Reducing Trip Time and Increasing Speed Increasing Frequencies Revitalizing Stations and Modal Connections

9 Niagara Falls International Station - Closer to Business District - Consolidated border inspection facilities Existing Station Total Cost $25M Historic U.S. Customhouse Incorporated into the new station facility, this historic feature has undergone $2.7 million worth of renovations as part of this larger plan to develop an Underground Railroad interpretative center at the station site.
