8 The Christian & Hardship I. “We Must” B.“We” tells us this is not an isolated necessity. 1.All temptation is common (I Cor. 10:1-13). 2.The same suffering are also endured by others (I Peter 5:8-9). 3.We suffer with one another (I Corinthians 12:18-26). 9 The Christian & Hardship II. “Through Many Tribulations” A.“Tribulation” thlipsis “a pressing, pressing together,… met. oppression, affliction” B.Christians face many hardships. 1.Persecution (John 15:18-21). 2.Infirmities (Philippians 2:25-28). 3.Painful relationships (Luke 14:26,27). 4.Misfortune of this world (Acts 18:1-3; 11:27-30). B.Obedience to the gospel is our entrance into the kingdom (Acts 8:5,12; 28:30,31). 1.It is talking about an aspect of the gospel itself - enduring to the end (Matthew 24:9-13).
