Progress at Protensive A brief update for the December 2004 PIN meeting Ian Henderson, R&D Director, Protensive
2
Progress at Protensive….. New equipment * 4 100mm SDRs rated to 200C, full vacuum to 4barg * 2 200mm SDRs rated to 220C, full vacuum to 4barg * 300mm High temperature unit 400C, full vacuum, with polymer handling capability ie cone discharge and gear pump * High stability gear pump units, extruder, mono type pump All computer interfaced,Oil baths with high output pumps
3
Progress at Protensive… High heat transfer on SDRs Overall heat transfer coefficient of 10kW/m2 K (1761 Btu/ft2h F) for low viscosity process fluids and water or glycol as heat/cool fluid. A 0.5m dia disc with delta T 20K will transfer 39kW. thanks to patented double spiral disc design, copper construction (with chrome plating for corrosion resistance)
4
Double Spiral Design * Rectangular channels; no fine clearances. * Low thermal and mechanical mass *Constant disc temperature *Flow independent of rotation * Chrome plated copper construction * No distortion under pressure/vac
