1. Learner Relevance Change = improved alignment Tasks effective? –action oriented –appropriate level – backward design, based on need (Acti-vie 2 example – Une maison pas comme les autres)

2. Student to student interaction in French Guide on the side Strategies (speaking & listening) Purposeful talk Social exchanges Scaffolding unscripted/pseudo- authentic events

How? Cooperative Learning Strategies Student pairings interacting simultaneously –(i.e. inside outside circle, tea party) Modeling & scaffolding intended to get students to repeat, repeatedly build repertoire –Vocab games

3. Teacher communication in French Handouts / Text –images, icons & simple French –whiteout or edit files to update –standard phrasing (if you wish) Verbal instruction –anchor charts –teach & practice classroom instructions –act, mime, point

4. Authentic Texts Exposure = full comprehension Varied & simple Audio, visual & textual Links between fun, simplified input & more meaningful content –Ex: Téléfrançais ep 13 & Geo concepts, social awareness, Terry Fox, healthy livingTéléfrançais
