Learning for Jobs Key recommendations Provide the right mix of skills for the labour market that: reconciles student preferences and employer needs balances technical skills that employers need immediately with generic, transferable skills Reform career guidance to deliver effective advice to all students that is independent, objective and well-informed by labour market information Ensure teachers and trainers are well-prepared and up-to-date Make full use of good-quality workplace learning in initial VET programmes Develop tools to engage stakeholders and promote transparency

Increasing demand in technical & professional occupations (e.g. health care) Growing demand for high level technical & professional skills from both the labour market and students In some countries, new and growing postsecondary vocational programmes Review of post-secondary vocational education and training (VET)

Skills Beyond School What are the big policy challenges? Funding and finance How the cost of provision of postsecondary VET should be distributed between student, employer and government? Employer engagement Is the system supply or demand-driven? Integration How is postsecondary VET connected with other levels of the education system? Delivering quality What are the mechanisms ensuring that all students reach at least minimum requirements upon completion of their studies?
