HUSKY OR COUGAR OR…? ►Washington State has six four- year public colleges: o University of Washington o Washington State University o Western Washington University o The Evergreen State College o Eastern Washington University o Central Washington University ►Washington State also has 34 community and technical colleges ►And there are 3,000+ public and private colleges around the country

HOW CAN YOU PREPARE? ►Research postsecondary programs based on your career interests ►Take courses and exams to meet the requirements ►Plan to visit colleges before senior year ►Apply during fall of senior year

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Required for four-year public college and recommended for two-year college, students must have a MINIMUM of: ►College Academic Distribution Requirements (these are MORE than HS graduation requirements) ►2.0 minimum GPA ►Official SAT/ACT test scores sent directly to the college

COLLEGE ACADEMIC DISTRIBUTION REQUIREMENTS SUBJECTREQUIREMENTS (Note that requirements may change) ENGLISH 4 credits Including 3 credits of college prep composition or literature MATH 3 credits Algebra I & II + Geometry or Integrated Math I, II, III Must take a math-based quantitative course senior year SCIENCE 2-3 credits One credit must be in an algebra-based science course One credit must be in biology, chemistry, or physics SOCIAL STUDIES 3 credits History or other social science WORLD LANGUAGE 2 credits 2 credits must be earned in the same language 1 credit may be earned during middle school ARTS 1 credit Fine, visual, or performing arts The MINIMUM for a Washington State college or university

CLUBS, SPORTS, ACTIVITIES ►In addition to academics, show colleges your interests and skills: o Join clubs o Participate in activities o Play a sport o Volunteer at school or in your community
