Mandate (Senate Bill 1) enacted 2009 for -- the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education (CPE), the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE), and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) -- To create a Unified Strategy for College and Career Readiness to reduce college remediation and to increase the college completion rates by 2014 Kentucky’s Unbridled Learning

To align revised K-12 academic standards with college readiness requirements and expectations and promote degree completion: Accelerated Learning Opportunities Secondary Intervention Programs College and Career Readiness Advising Postsecondary College Persistence and Degree Completion Four Key Strategies

Kentucky was the first state to adopt the Common Core Standards (Feb. 2010): To be known as the Kentucky Core Academic Standards for English/Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics Provides grade by grade level content standards linked to college and career readiness standards Integrate final standards into agency work and processes to ensure that all Kentucky students experience a successful and productive future KY Core Academic Standards

Collaboration Learning community of members contributing, commenting, evaluating or suggesting resources for the Depot’s collection Depot Scholars provide peer review for quality control and improvement Work with colleagues to create original content using the Depot’s built-in collaboration tools Act as volunteer reviewer, have about 90 Scholars Create or Review

Publication Add original resources under Creative Commons copyright licensing Usage tracking of original resources with reporting Receive feedback from the Depot community in the form of comments and starred reviews Find OER textbooks and other digital content from partner states and the planet Share & Rate

Kentucky Core Academic Standards PD resources on the new Common Core State Standards, whether postsecondary or K-12, posted in the Kentucky Learning Depot Access and share standards-aligned materials across borders and collaborate with educators in other states Shared taxonomies provide metadata, tagging and connective “language” Standards & Taxonomies
