1. High School Graduation Requirements Florida students entering their first year of high school in the 2011–2012 school year and thereafter may choose from several options to earn a standard diploma. They are as follows: A 4-year, 24-credit program A 3-year, 18-credit college preparatory program A 3-year, 18-credit career preparatory program And all students, regardless of graduation program, must still : earn a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale achieve passing scores on the Grade 10 FCAT® 2.0 (FCAT) Reading and pass specific End-of-Course (EOC) assessments to graduate with a standard diploma.

2. For students who enter 9th grade, course credits include the following: English - 4 credits Mathematics - 4 credits to include the following: Beginning in 2011–2012 1 credit in Algebra 1 by passing the EOC assessment 1 credit in Geometry (must take EOC – 30% of final course grade) 2012–2013 and beyond 1 credit in Algebra 1 by passing the EOC assessment 1 credit in Geometry by passing the EOC assessment 1 credit in Algebra 2

For students who enter 9th grade, course credits include the following: (continued) Science - 3 credits to include the following: Beginning in 2011–2012 1 credit in Biology (take the EOC assessment – 30% of final course grade) 2012–2013 1 credit in Biology by passing the EOC assessment 2013–2014 and beyond 1 credit in Biology by passing the EOC assessment 1 credit in Chemistry or Physics or its equivalent 1 credit in an equally rigorous science course Social Studies - 3 credits 1 credit in World History 1 credit in United States History.5 credit in United States Government.5 credit in Economics

4. Accelerated Programs for High School Students Studies show that students who complete a solid academic program in high school, including advanced courses, are more likely to be successful in college. 5. College and Career Readiness What Does “College and Career Ready” Mean? Students are college and career ready when they have the knowledge, skills, and academic preparation needed to enroll and succeed in introductory college credit-bearing courses within an associate or bachelor level degree program without the need for remedial courses.

6. Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) The Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) is Florida's customized common placement test. The purpose of the P.E.R.T. is accurate course placement based on the student's skills and abilities. The P.E.R.T. is aligned with the Postsecondary Readiness Competencies identified by Florida faculty as necessary for success in entry-level college credit coursework. The P.E.R.T. assessment system includes Placement and Diagnostic tests in mathematics, reading and writing.

7. Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) The (P.E.R.T.) Placement is administered to students in public high schools and Florida College System institutions to determine readiness for Intermediate Algebra, MAT 1033, and Freshman Composition I, ENC 1101. The P.E.R.T. assessment is a computer adaptive test (C.A.T.) with 25 operational items that will be the basis of the student's placement score and five (5) field test items which are designed to continuously enhance the operational test bank.

8. Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) Mathematics Lower Level Developmental Education Scores of 50-95 Higher Level Developmental Education Scores of 96-112 Intermediate Algebra (MAT 1033) Scores of 113*-122 College Algebra or higher (MAC 1105) Scores of 123-150 *113 is the college-ready cut score for mathematics.

9. Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) Reading Lower Level Developmental Education Scores of 50-83 Higher Level Developmental Education Scores of 84-103 Freshman Composition Skills I (ENC 1101) Scores of 104*-150 * 104 is the college-ready cut score for reading.

10. Postsecondary Education Readiness Test (P.E.R.T.) Writing Lower Level Developmental Education Scores of 50-89 Higher Level Developmental Education Scores of 90-98 Freshman Composition Skills I (ENC 1101) Scores of 99*-150 *99 is the college-ready cut score for writing.

Bright Futures Scholarship Requirements for 2012 Graduates The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program’s purpose is to reward students for their academic achievements during high school by providing funding to attend postsecondary education in Florida. Florida Academic Scholar (FAS) & Florida Medallion Scholar (FMS) Awards Requirements include 16 credits in the following courses: 4 English (3 with substantial writing) 4 mathematics (Algebra 1 level and above) 3 natural science (2 with substantial lab) 3 social science 2 foreign language (sequential, in the same language)
