Honors Physics 5 Oct 2009 Today: – Discuss student notebooks – Quick determination of g in Lansdowne – Handout Graphical Analysis Lab Homework: review notebooks, complete any assignments you have begun

Notebooks Generally notes taken from the board are good – 90% thorough Homework – try every problem, put your thoughts if you can’t put an answer Please date and title your sections Most work needed: your own notes – thoughts and questions – connections to past work – evidence of review at home (looking over class notes – modifying – fixing)

Quick determination of g Tools: meter stick, stop watch, calculator, metal ball, small box, equation # 3 (reduced) In groups of 4 (by table) – head out to the stair case at the right, Figure out how to determine the drop distance, and how to accurately time the drop. Repeat the measurement 3 times, and take an average of calculated a Include all planning – thoughts – calculations in your notebook

Honors Physics 6 Oct 2009 Today: Graphical analysis for free-fall acceleration lab – required assignment All questions must be answered and graphs produced on separate sheets of paper(hand drawn or in Excel) Lab must be turned in by Friday October 16th

Honors Physics 7 Oct 2009 1. Complete interval distance measurements on tapes (20 minutes) 2. Enter table with interval # and distances into MS Excel 3. Have Excel calculate interval velocities, and create two graphs needed for lab activity 4. Homework: Complete questions to lab – work on assignments – need 5 in by Friday!!

Honors Physics 8 Oct 2009 Today’s topic - What goes up must come down – But How? Warm-up: Charlie Hourn throws a baseball straight up in the air at a speed of 60 m/s. How high will it go? Hint: What is the speed at the apex of the ball’s path? Also: Graphing your lab data Get those assignments completed!! Review sheet work due in Comp Book by Monday
