Battle of Yorktown The surrender of Yorktown ended the fighting in the War for American Independence (American Revolution) Battle of Lexington The first shots starting the American Revolution were fired at Lexington, Massachusetts. "shot heard round the world." Battle of San Jacinto The surrender at San Jacinto marked the end of the fighting in the Texas Independence.
