The three main motivators for immigration are: –God (religion, to escape religious persecution in Europe) –Gold (wealth, money, and land were promised to colonist and indentured servants who were poor in Europe) –Glory (Enlightenment ideas of fame, curiosity, and adventure motivated people to explore)

6. The English colonist that saved Jamestown from disaster was John Smith. John Rolfe brought good quality tobacco to Jamestown and married Pocahontas. The House of Burgesses created in 1619, became the first representative assembly in the American colonies. Nathaniel Bacon led a rebellion in Jamestown and took control of the House of Burgesses.
