4 Objectives Raise awareness on the importance of statistics in Top Rectangular Strategy (RS III) of the Government, and National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP), including CMDG, as well as its M&E and other planning, decision making, and researches Update on Statistical Master Plan (SMP), and its implementation Discussion on statistical data requirements: quantity, quality, accessibility Discussion on mainstreaming statistics in NSDP, support its M&E needs, and the needs of international development agenda (MDGs, ASEAN integration, and Post-2015 agenda) Discussion on statistical legal framework for sustainable statistical development

5 Main feedback Imbalance of commitment and demand Needs for more quality/reliability, variety, accessibility, timely of statistics Statistical Master Plan (SMP) should at least respond to the indicator need of National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP) It is important to educate data users on the use of data/statistics. A strong call for NIS to educate statistics Needs for sub-national disaggregated statistics on education, rural development, poverty, infrastructure, basic facilities, etc. Need to have line-ministry budget, and capacity building in SMP

6 Contributing Outcomes From unnecessary to necessity NIS has been a single organization that produce official statistics SMP to be evolved to NSDS for mainstreaming into NSDP Statistics Law and its sub decree for sustainable statistical development is being developed for approval Statistical Advocacy Material to publish for further raising awareness and contribution to statistics

7 Prevailing Challenges From necessity comes demand on statistics in quantity, with quality, timely, and accessibility; nationally, regionally, and internationally Developing and mainstreaming NSDS need consensus and resource Adopting amended Statistics Law and its prioritized sub decree is a long process, esp. when it comes to limited national resource On Capacity: for quality and timely statistics comes the question Who. It is important to have more statisticians with master degree and PhD degree for qualified statistics
