3 Strengths/ Better Practice in HIS ownership and leadership - Already existing multi sectoral group including donors and partners, with a strategic plan that is already in place but needs reinforcing in implementation. - Systems are in placed but parallel. There is a readiness to explore interoperability. - Human capital development – there are ICT programs in different Universities but no formal health informatics program. 4 Priority gaps in HIS ownership and leadership - Inconsistency in terms of representatives attending meetings. No concrete roles for each group, more on information sharing as supposed to action plans. Issues on political will and commitment. - Presence of different vertical data programs. - Retention and capacity building – problems in public sector job opportunity/ private sector offer higher salary. 5 Priority actions post forum - More concrete roles and responsibilities for members in the multisectoral group including leadership/chair/co-chair and engagement and over site of system data and interoperability initiatives. - Start mapping out data needs across the different departments To know what each system are generating. And to develop one interface/data repository that can integrate all of the information from the different vertical databases. - Collaboration with the government/universities to expose and recruit to work with the government on public health informatics programs and projects. 6 Priority donor TA or support - Funding for the MultiSectoral working group – for coordination, pilots workshops and information dissemination. - General technical assistance with systems data and data interoperability. - Support to strengthen health informatics curriculum.
