IN the 1870s, Bahá’u’lláh sent Sulaymán Khán-i-Tunukábuní, known as Jamál Effendi, to India, where he helped establish His Faith in Bombay, Calcutta, and Madras.

Among those he taught was a Muslim of ‘Iraqi descent named Siyyid Mu ṣṭ afá Rúmí. They teamed up to spread the Teachings of Bahá’u’lláh, and traveled east of India.

In 1878, Jamál Effendi and Mu ṣṭ afá Rúmí arrived in Burma, now Myanmar, the gateway to the vast and varied region called Southeast Asia.

... and the expansive bridges that keep linking its diversities. Thus continued the story of the vitalizing breezes that swept through the region...
