2. Delicate Yarns Any fiber which will not stand up to the abrasion of heddle or shuttle may be perfect for use on the triloom.

3. Continuous weave method also damaging Even the normal triloom “continuous weave” method can be too abrasive on yarns with large slubs or other extending fibers.

4. Pre-warped Loom  By pre-warping the loom the amount of shed that must be cleared for each yarn pass is reduced to the actual size of the yarn.

5. How to Pre-Warp  With the hypotenuse at the top, starting at the apex nail, run the yarn up to the Rightmost Nail or peg.

6. Pre-Warping 2  Continue running the yarn, hooking it on each successive nail maintaining an even tension.

7. First Weave  Once the loom is dressed, attach the weft to the left-most top nail and weave a loop down, towards the right. You will continue weaving top to bottom by weaving loops through the warp.

8. Mandatory edge techniques  In the “continuous weave” style, all three sides are stable.  The “pre-warp weave” style, requires additional techniques.  careful weaving near the hypotenuse and arms  right arm loops must be secured.

9. Weaving through the loops  To insure that the weaving is stable it is necessary to weave THROUGH the warp threads at every hypotenuse nail.  Additionally, the first few passes should also be woven in this manner from top to bottom.

10. Balancing the tight weave areas  Once the first few passes are completed you may wish to begin weaving a different pattern:  Basket weave  Twill  Care should be taken, to maintain the tighter weave for the full length of the hypotenuse, and to mirror the number of tight weave rows on the left arm at the right.

11. Finishing the Right arm  When your weaving is done leave a long tail of yarn.  Thread the tail through a darning needle and needle- weave through the unwoven loops.

12. Additional finishing  Shawl is now stable and can be worn as is.  Other finishing techniques:  Cut Fringe – on the loom  Continuous fringe – 2 ended ball for spiral  Crochet – single crochet & other patterns  Knit – picked up edgings Hint: a finer yarn makes a better finisher.
