2. Box Guitar How is the instrument activated (how do you play it)? You strum the strings with your fingers, and the strings will vibrate.

3. What is it that vibrates? The force you use when you strum the string, is what makes the strings vibrate. The strings themselves make hardly any noise. They are thin and slip easily through the air without making much of noise. An acoustic guitar would be much quieter without the vibrations of its bridge and body. In an acoustic guitar, the vibration of the string is transferred through the bridge and saddle to the top plate body of the guitar.

4. How do you manipulate (change) the pitch of your instrument? Why did this change the pitch? There are six different strings on a guitar. They go from high to low and thicker to thinner. The looser and thicker the strings the lower the sound, the thinner and tighter the string the higher the sound.

5. How do you manipulate (change) the volume of your instrument? Why did this change the volume? The volume can be changed by strumming the strings with more or less force. The less force you use the softer the sound. The more force you use the louder the sound.

6. Sound waves Original High- The pitch is high and the volume is louder, the wavelength are closer together and the amplitude gets taller. Low- The pitch is low and the volume is softer the wavelengths are farther apart this is called rarefaction and the amplitude is smaller.

7. Drum Pitch and Frequency The higher the pitch the closer frequency of the sound waves are, the lower the pitch the farther apart the frequency of the sound waves are. Original High Low

8. Communication People make sound waves in their everyday life all the time. A high pitch noise normally means they are happy, excited, or for a warning for example a siren. A low pitch noise with a loud volume usually means someone is angry.
