ProStart is a special program for high school students that will give you the opportunity to learn about the art of cooking and managing restaurants by training with professional chefs and getting valuable classroom instruction. It is also a way to earn college credit and make money while you’re in high school.

Through the ProStart program, high school students can learn career-building skills and get a taste for success in an industry that is hungry for talent. But they can’t do it alone.The success of the program and the future of the industry also depend on teachers like you.

ProStart Curriculum and How to use it The ProStart Curriculum was designed to be flexible to help educators implement it effectively. Here’s a quick overview of the curriculum and materials educators need. ProStart can be implemented within any scheduling constraints. This flexible program includes lab activities and chapters that can be divided up to work in 45-minute class periods or in a block schedule. ProStart can be implemented in any classroom setting. There are no equipment requirements, and activities can be conducted in a family and consumer sciences kitchen or an industrial kitchen.

ProStart Curriculum and How to use it ProStart is a complete program, with resources for students and educators. These resources include everything from textbooks (print and electronic) and a companion website for students, to a teacher’s wraparound edition and assessments for educators

Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator Certification The Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator certification (CSFE) was developed for educators at the secondary level interested in continuing their education and professional development. Earning the CSFE will improve and enhance your restaurant and foodservice knowledge, as well as technical and teaching skills.

Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator Certification This valuable program will also satisfy certification and credential requirements of state and local school districts, in addition to professional and trade associations. The CSFE certification is a worthwhile and credible qualification, as it requires ongoing professional development maintenance to keep the certification current.

Requirements for attaining CSFE Certification: Associate degree or an equivalent from an accredited institution or from a recognized teacher education institution Certified under contract with school district or Temporary Certified Educator under contract with the school district Complete the Requirements of the Basic, Advanced and Mastery Levels of the Summer Institutes and pass certification test for all levelsSummer Institutes

Certified Secondary Foodservice Educator Certification Complete 120 hours of industry experience as outlined in the Internship Requirements Submit a Unit Lesson Plan from Industry Experience
