8 PRODUCT & EXTENSION SUPPORT Economic decline affecting private sector, NGOs and government alike. Monopoly in private sector suppliers content with donor and government tenders, unwilling to go into research, extension and product support. Demand for TP by individuals in Zimbabwe and Malawi.

9 SYSTEM PERFORMANCE Function of all of the above. TP-rusting, height, stiffness, use of grease, inlet & outlet diameter, height of cylinder, system design. Drip kits- primary filter, pressure compensatory emitters, size of tank & filling frequency, water mgt, use of buckets, Smallholder irrigation- designs, quality of works and supervision.

10 PROJECTS IMPACT Generally no M&E systems. Low capacity in FAO-EU or implementing partner. Difficulties in getting data on agricultural and financial performance – cohort farmer. Access to inputs and markets identified to be critical. Through walk and talk, observations, food & nutrition security and income evident in some cases.
