3 It’ s countdown to my birthday, It’ s on Wednesday next week. My present is in the hall But Mum and Dad won’ t let me peek. I’m going to have a party, So now I’ m making lists Of birthday food and birthday drinks And who will be my guests. I’ m inviting all my friends And all my family too. I’ve added up the numbers- And they come to twenty-two. Tonight I’ll write my cards. I hope they all can come. It’s countdown to my birthday And I know it will be FUN! Book p.50

4 It is going to be Jane’s birthday. She is holding a party. She writes some invitations to her friends. Book p.52 Dear friends, Please come to my house on Saturday, 15 th October. 11 Party at the hospital It was karen’s birthday but she was not happy. She was in hospitals with a broken leg. At breakfast time, karen’s mother came in. “ look at all these birthday cards from your friends!” she said. Karen smiled a little. At lunch-time, Karen’s grandmother came in. “ here are some flowers to cheer you up,” she said. “ Thank you, Grandma,” said karen with a big smile. At tea-tine, karen’s friends came to see her. They brought her a big birthday cake. “Happy Birthday, karen!” they sang. “ Thank you, everyone! This is the best birthday surprise I have ever had!” said Kern with a great big smile. Book p.58

12 The letters d and r together make a new beginning sound, like the dr sound in drink. Drip drip, Drop drop. Wish that leaky Tap would stop.
