Agents of environment take care about the future of the Earth, so we all recycle on : - Global level - Local level - Individual level

Recycling This year, every person in Europe will throw away approximately 500kg of rubbish. Usually we burn or bury this rubbish, but this isn’t good for the environment. Recycling is a good alternative and it doesen’t pollute the environment. Now there are lots of places where we can recycle old bottles, cans, glass, cardboard and paper. 3 Materials in recycling  plastic  aluminium  glass  paper We recycle:

How can we protect the environment ? We must: save rainforests protect wildlife protect wildlife

keep beaches clean recycle paper recycle paper

turn off taps while cleaning teeth turn off taps while cleaning teeth turn off the lights when leaving the rooms

We mustn’t: waste water pollute the air pollute the air

pollute water pollute the soil pollute the soil waste electricity

destroy rainforests throw the rubbish on the beach use too many pesticides on farms

Pollution Pollution causes : forest fires industrial production forest fires industrial production volcanoes volcanoes lightning transport lightning transport

Pollution consequnces : smog thin ozone layer water pollution acid rains thin ozone layer water pollution acid rains increase of the increase of the greenhouse effect greenhouse effect

If we protect and don’t pollute the world, we will have clean beaches, forests, lots of animals and clean air

Local recycling In Lisow there are bins for used  paper  glass  plastic

Recycling in my town Once a month the recycling company goes through Lisow and collects all the materials that are left outside the houses in special bags. They also empty the blue, yellow and green bins which are full of recyclable materials such as plastic, glass and paper.

Scheme of car recycle There is an approved vehicle dismantler and recycler here in our town. The MAK-POL company. They offer environmentely friendly car recycle service. They simply pickup the vehicle within 3 days and dismantle it in a safe and friendly manor, accoroling to the scheme:

What’s in your rubbish bin? A large percentage of household’s still do not recycle enough and throw everything that they consider ‘rubbish’ into their ordinary bin. Much of this waste can be recycled and should be disposed of separately to general household waste. Look inside this rubbish bin to see how much of the contents should actually have been recycled.

Recycling at home This is a bin used for collecting different kinds of home rubish. The coloured bags are used for selecting the materials instead of throwing them into one container. 18 Battery recycling box used at our school All waste batteries are classified as hazardous waste and recycling is always the best option. Ordinary household batteries do contain some hazardous chemicals so ideally should not be thrown out with the day to day rubbish. Rechargeable batteries contain harmful metals, so should never be thrown away with daily rubbish, they should be returned to manufacturer for disposal or recycled elsewhere. Local councils or garages sometimes offer battery-recycling services. All waste batteries are classified as hazardous waste and recycling is always the best option. 19 How to recycle electrical and electronic equipment?  The WEEE man is a very unusual sculpture. It’s seven meters tall and it’s made of rubbish. It represents the quantity of electrical and electronic equipment that typical person will throw away in his or her lifetime. That includes six televisions, four video or DVD recorders, three washing machines and thirty-five mobile phones.

Recycle plastic  There are about 50 different types of plastic. The main types include:  HDPE – Opaque bottles  PVC – Transparent bottles, with a seam running across the base  PET – Transparent bottles, with a hard moulded spot in the centre of the base  If your home recycling bin doesn’t take plastic bottles, then deposit them at your local recycling bank.  Clean bottles before recycling them.  Buy plastic bottles in bulk whenever possible to reduce packaging waste.  Carriers can be reused next time you’re at the shops, or deposit used ones at collection points provided by some supermarkets.

Recycling on individual level There are three key factors when thinking about how to recycle – The 3 R’s:

What can we recycle? Everybody is responsible for environment. We should recycle: metal, plastic, paper and glass.

Collecting rubbish We ought to collect rubbish. We put them into special bags or boxes.

How can I improve the way I recycle?  To reduce contamination and improve recycling efficiency, wash and squash!  Wash  Scrape out any food remains/pour away excess liquid.  Rinse the container (use your washing-up water)  Don’t put recyclate in the dishwasher – no need to waste resources to achieve an unnecessary level of cleanliness!  Squash  Crush metal cans.  Squeeze plastic bottles flat to expel as much air as possible.  These steps help prevent contamination and reduce the volume of recyclate, making collections more energy efficient.

What’s next? Next, the rubbish company drives to Lisów with a special car and collects the segregated materials.

The art of recycling Some people recycle rubbish in a very original way. They use them to make art. EGGCUBISM SCULPTURE MADE OF CARDBOARD AND WOOD CARDBOARD AND WOOD PAPER SCULPTURE PAPER SCULPTURE

So, NEXT TIME if you put your rubbish into the bin STOP and THINK: ‘ WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE ENVIRONMENT TODAY?’
