We have all read the traditional tale of Cinderella. Have you ever thought about what Cinderella stories from different countries are like? Have you ever heard of a Cinderella story with a boy as the main character? In this project you will be reading different Cinderella stories and learning more about the countries they came from.

You will be in a group of three. As a group, you will read five Cinderella stories from the twenty along the blackboard ledge. As you read each story, you will complete a character map and a compare/contrast sheet. You will complete several activities as the project goes along, including research. As a culminating activity, you will write a compare and contrast paper between TWO of the stories you read.

You will be given a cooperative learning group of three to work with. Earlier we discussed gender stereotypes, what a fairy tale consists of, and looked over a world map. Also, we have already read the traditional Cinderella story.
2. With your group, choose one book. This will be “story 1.”
3. Look at your compare/contrast sheet. Fill the first blank with the title of “story 1” on it. You will be filling in all the information for this row.

Next, look at the character map sheet. You will complete one entire page for “story 1.”
5. When you are done with “story 1” return the book and choose a new book which will be your “story 2.” As you read remember to complete both sheets.
6. You will repeat this process for each of the FIVE stories you will be reading.
