1 Biome Ball Project

2 Instructions: get out a piece of paper and write down the following slides for a project that is equal to a test grade. Each template will represent 1 biome for a total of 6 biomes: Desert Taiga Temperate Deciduous Forest Grasslands Tropical Rain Forest Tundra

3 What you need for each biome:
Biome: make sure you include the name for both of the pieces of template Flora and Fauna: Fauna is all of the animal life of any particular region. Flora is the corresponding term for plants. Include pictures along with your examples. Plant and Animal Adaptations: What adaptations do the animals and plants have in order to be successful in their biome (ex. Thin leaves for desert life) Description and Characteristics: Find specific characteristics for this biome. What makes the biome unique?

4 What you need for each biome
Biome Name: again do not forget to put the biome name at the top Example of Biome Food Chain: Once you find the flora and fauna you can construct a food chain for the specific biome. Don’t forget to label the name of the organism and the picture. Human Impacts: List at least two human impacts on the specific biome. World Wide locations: where in the world are these biomes located. Color the map to show as well. MAKE SURE YOU COLOR EACH BIOME TEMPLATE THE SAME COLOR. I.E if tropical rainforest is green then both templates should be green.

5 Description/ Characteristics Plants and Animal Adaptations
Categories/Points 3 2 1 Example food chain All biomes include an example food chain with names of organism and picture. Most biomes include examples of food chains with names of organisms and pictures or all biomes include food chain with either pictures or names. Few biomes include examples of food chains with names of organisms and pictures. No effort or did not complete this section Worldwide locations All biomes include worldwide locations and colored maps. Most biomes include worldwide locations and colored maps. Few biomes include worldwide locations and colored maps. Human impacts All biomes include at least 2 human impacts. Most biomes include at least 2 human impacts. Few biomes include at least 2 human impacts. Flora/Fauna All biomes include correct examples of flora and fauna. Most biomes include correct examples of flora and fauna. Few biomes include correct examples of flora and fauna. Description/ Characteristics All biomes include average precipitation, temperature, latitude, and defining characteristics. Biomes include 3 of the 4 previously listed characteristics or most biomes include all 4 characteristics. Biomes include 2 or fewer of the previously listed characteristics or only a few of the biomes include all 4 characteristics. Plants and Animal Adaptations All biomes include at least 1 plant and 1 animal adaptation. Most biomes include 1 plant and 1 animal adaptation. Few biomes include 1 plant and animal adaptation. Neatness and presentation All writing is legible and neat, pictures are colored, and the ball is neatly assembled with sides glued together. Each Biome is indicated by a specific color. Clean up! Two out of the three elements previously listed are met. Clean up! One out of the three elements previously listed are met. Clean up! Assignment displays no effort and zero elements previously listed are met. Clean up!
