2. Teams You will be grouped into teams of four. Each team will have a Team Leader, Engineer, Graphic Designer, and Logistician. Team Leader is in charge of the build and a final presentation. The Engineer is responsible for building the models Graphic Designer is responsible for all sketches and Inventor files. Logistician is responsible for parts procurement and build object safety and storage. One team member must have a camera/phone to take pictures for the slide presentation

3. Mechanical Gears Team Project Team Leader Team Leader is in charge of the build and a final presentation. Team Leader will collect / take pictures of the build process. Team Leader will fill in for all absent team members as needed. The presentation will consist of the following: Requirements: 12 Slides minimum 10 images of the various steps in the build process Minimum 1 text box per slide to explain current state of the build Slide Transitions – 12, 1 per slide Slide Animations – 12, 1 per slide Title Slide – includes all team member names (first and last names) and period

4. Mechanical Gears Team Project Engineer Mechanism Requirements: The Engineer is responsible for building the models using the parts and equipment from the VEX robotics kits. All models that are built MUST function as expected in a normal factory setting utilizing standard procedure found in any manufacturing setting. Any binding or non operation of the mechanism will result in a rejected mechanism.

5. Mechanical Gears Team Project Graphic Designer Graphic Designer is responsible for all sketches and Inventor files. All files and sketches must be legible and easily recognizable. Sketches will be completed in an engineer’s notebook following prescribed standard procedures and guidelines. Sketches will include a orthographic drawing of all major parts ( excluding standoffs, nuts, bolts and washers). Autodesk Inventor 3D files will be of the completed assembly.

6. Mechanical Gears Team Project Logistician Logistician is responsible for parts procurement and build object safety and storage. ALL PARTS will be procured by the Logistician from the VEX kits and the VEX storage drawers in the rear of the classroom. Build items will be stored by the Logistician. The Logistician is the only person allowed in the storage room and the VEX parts kits and VEX drawers. In the event of the Logistician being absent the Team Leader, after signing release statements will be allowed in the required areas and equipment.

7. Mechanical Gears Team Project Rubric All team members will share in the four grades for the project which will be determined by the General Manager. There will be four separate grades for the project: 1.Sketches and 3-D models of the item to be built 2.The build item itself 3.Presentation by the Team Leader on the operation of the build item and its specifications using photos of the team’s work.

8. Mechanical Gears Team Project MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD Team dynamics Team dynamics will be handled by the Team Leader any referrals will be done by submission of a “Pink Slip” to the General Manager. All “Pink Slips” will include the following: time, date, nature of problem, personnel involved by name, and a brief description of the events. The General Manager’s determination is final.
